The Isaac Theatre Royal is an iconic theatrical venue that has played host to spectacular and diverse shows and spellbound audiences for more than a century and is recognised as being one of New Zealand’s premier venues for the performing arts.

The Theatre Royal Charitable Foundation is seeking an outstanding and talented individual to lead the organisation with passion and dedication, into the next stage of its development, building upon its achievements since reopening in 2014.  The Chief Executive, reporting to the Chair and Foundation Board, will provide strategic and operational leadership for the organisation.  Supported by an experienced and capable team the CEO will further develop the Theatre’s reputation and profile within the local community, nationally and internationally, as a premium venue in the heart of Christchurch’s city centre.

You will have a demonstrated track record of influencing stakeholders, delivering on objectives and strategic goals, and possess high levels of vision, motivation and resilience.  You will be confident and persuasive, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate others.  Previous experience of working in a senior position in a theatre or creative arts/entertainment environment is preferable. You will also bring expertise in sponsorship and relationship management and be known for your ability to connect meaningfully with multiple stakeholders and influence decision-makers. Experience in reporting to a board would also be advantageous.

TSB Showplace - Venue Operations Supervisor Vacancy

Venue Operations Supervisor

The TSB Showplace is our region’s main theatre and conference venue, and we are looking for someone to fill some very important shoes.

We have a full-time, fixed-term (12 month) opportunity in the role of Venue Operations Supervisor. The Operations Supervisor oversees all the day to day events and operational requirements for the TSB Showplace, including staffing, catering, cleaning and technical services. This role oversees performances, conferences and function business and coordinates all client requirements.

For this busy role, where no two days are the same, we are looking for someone who is solutions focused with excellent communication skills. Experience in health and safety and venue operations is an advantage. A full, clean driver’s licence is required, as well as knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. You will need to be flexible in hours and have the ability to work on the occasional weekends and have no problem being hands on to assist whenever required.

You will be joining a tight knit team, totally focused on maintaining New Plymouth’s reputation as a great place to live, work and visit. This is an incredible opportunity for a venues and events professional to join a dedicated team, ensuring world class delivery in a truly iconic venue.

The Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre is the focal point for the performing arts in Rotorua and is set to be redeveloped and earthquake-strengthened providing the city with a high quality fit for purpose centre.  The project is in the early development stage with construction commencing early 2019. Once completed, it will be able to showcase all forms of performance in a way that will strengthen our cultural and performing arts offering.

Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts

The Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts operates as both a performance venue for musical concerts and recitals, theatre, dance and kapa haka and a space for the University’s teaching programmes in music, dance, theatre and Māori performing arts.  The Academy can also be used as an events venue for community and commercial organisations for functions, conferences and similar events.

We are seeking an Operations Manager to manage day to day running of the Academy in such a way to maximise its use and ensure that all events run smoothly and are fully supported technically to the highest possible standards.  You will also be responsible for event management, bookings, budgets, staffing and health and safety.

To be successful in this role you will need to have a tertiary qualification in event management or proven relevant experience in event management in a similar industry.  Technical experience working in a wide range of theatre and entertainment venues and events is essential. 

Integrity, a commitment to providing a high standard of client service, and the ability to thrive in a fast paced team environment are critical requirements.

Salary will be in the range of $82,539 to $91,710 per year, depending on qualifications, skills and experience.
