BACKGROUND

The Entertainment Venues Association of New Zealand (EVANZ) is the peak body representing the venue industry in New Zealand. EVANZ is a professional organisation providing leadership and building excellence for entertainment venues. EVANZ facilitates the collective sharing of information, enhancement of skills and development of best practice amongst entertainment venues.

EVANZ was formed to support the development of stronger management, marketing, staff training, research and innovation skills within the industry and this is achieved through communication and information exchange.  

JOB PURPOSE

Due to the recent retirement of our current longstanding General Manager, we are now looking for a new superstar to fill his boots. The General Manager of EVANZ is responsible to the President and Executive Committee for the delivery and on-going development of EVANZ nationwide. The General Manager builds effective relationships with key stakeholders, funders and partners to initiate programmes to further grow EVANZ, its membership, professionalism, communications and to support and enable the exchange of information.  The General Manager will be responsible for marketing the organisation and communicating its objectives to new and current members and more broadly to external stakeholders and agencies

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

Provide management and administration of the EVANZ organisation;
Work with the Executive to develop and implement a growth strategy;
Build strong stakeholder relationships with member venues, associate members, suppliers and other organisations;
Act as the face of EVANZ at conferences, tradeshows and meetings;
In line with the growth strategy, look for, and manage applications for new funding and sponsorship opportunities;
Manage the social media, web presence and marketing for he organisation, both to current and prospective members and to partner organisations;
Plan and deliver our two annual conferences, for 100-200 attendees over 2-3 days.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED

Experience in administration of a membership organisation ideal;
Experience in the entertainment venues industry;
Strong marketing and communications experience, especially in social media management;
Strong relationship building experience;
Experience sourcing and applying for sponsorship and funding would preferred;
Experience in event organisation and management preferred

This role can be based anywhere in New Zealand. It will require travel at least once each quarter for board meetings, plus some overnight travel for our conferences. This role is intended for an independent contractor, and as part of the application process you will need to confirm you are able to invoice EVANZ for your services. A fixed rate for the year will be negotiated with the successful candidate, which can be invoiced monthly. The role on average occupies 20-30 hours per week.
