Taupō Ironman Scholarship Now Open

SCHOLARSHIP DATE: 6 - 9  March 2020

Applications are now open for the EVANZ Taupō Ironman Scholarship for 2020. This is your chance to experience this iconic event from a ‘behind the scenes’ perspective and soak up the atmosphere that is IRONMAN New Zealand:

  1. Arriving in Taupō on Friday 6 March, you will be exposed to Taupō’s venues, key event players and the multiple workstreams that bring this event to life.
  2. You will have VIP access throughout the event  including the VIP breakfast to watch the race start, the VIP tent on the finish line, and you will be hosted in the VIP area for the awards dinner on the Sunday night.
  3. You will experience hands-on setups and even be recruited to sun-block the athletes as well as handing out medals on the finish line.  
  4. Departing on Monday 9 March, you will be officially established as one of  Taupō's newest locals.

 

What's Involved:

The programme will take place between Friday 6 and Monday 9 March 2020.

The successful applicant(s) will receive $500 towards the cost of accommodation and travel (see T&Cs). 

Recipients must be available to deliver a presentation about their experience at the EVANZ end of year Conference.

Please complete and submit the online application form. Please note:

  • You will need to include a summary of your career history and future goals (max 150 words);
  • You will need to upload a letter of recommendation from your employer or venue manager.

Terms and Conditions:

  • One person will be awarded the scholarship.  Any EVANZ member venue can apply. 
  • The recipient must be able to travel to Taupō between Friday 6 and Monday 9 March 2020.
  • The scholarship will not be carried over to subsequent years.
  • A recipient of the scholarship cannot apply again at any time in the future.
  • A member venue can apply on behalf of one staff member only per year.  
  • A second successful applicant will be chosen as a replacement if the successful  applicants is unable to attend due to re-employment at another venue, leaving the industry or death. 
  • The scholarship is not transferable to another person from the same venue or any other venue.
  • The successful applicant(s) will receive $500 towards the cost of travel and accommodation ($250 from EVANZ and $250 from Taupō Venues) 
  • The successful applicant must prepare a written report at the conclusion of the scholarship, to be submitted to  Taupō Venues and EVANZ. The applicant will be required to present this report at the 2020 end of year EVANZ Conference.

REVIEW PANEL:

The review panel will consist of one representative from Taupō Venues and one representative from the EVANZ Executive (providing the applicant is not from the same venue as the Executive Member). Review panel decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Successful applicants will be advised in writing in the week commencing Monday 4 November 2019.
