Horncastle Arena

Horncastle Arena is located in Christchurch's newest business hub, Addington an easy 15 minute drive from the airport.  Built in 1998, the Arena is one of the New Zealand's largest purpose-built indoor sporting and entertainment venues. When it is not playing host to sporting teams or world-renowned artists, it is used to host exhibitions, meetings, trade shows and gala dinners.

Horncastle Arena has a maximum seating capacity of almost 9000 and can be configured to provide comfortable seating options with superb views for any number of events.
There is 4000 square metres of flat floor space and additional space available in Back-of-House and within the concourse areas.

The size and versatility of this facility means it is the only South Island venue that can consistently host and deliver outstanding gala dinner experiences for up to 2500 guests.

The Arena is the South Island's only venue that consistently hosts and delivers gala dinners for up to 2 500. Features include large on site kitchens and well appointed conveniences. The simple design, flexible space and high ceiling of Horncastle Arena allows for themes to be created easily delivering high visual impact.

Trade Shows and Exhibitions
Our specialist Event Co-ordinators can offer you a comprehensive planning service including detailed floor plans and layouts, exhibition panel and equipment/furniture hire, installation and breakdown.

The 4000 square meters of exhibition space can be further extended by using the concourse area. Marquees can also be added to each side of the venue for those occasions when further space is required. 

If your wedding is going to be BIG then Horncastle Arena will not only accommodate your guests but all the other services such as catering, lighting and any theme you may wish to employ. We can provide the complete package for your wedding reception and with multiple function rooms in the same venue we can guarantee you flexibility and variation.

Access is key for large entertainment rigs and exhibition requirements and with ample height clearance and loading room it means that Horncastle Arena is easy and straight-forward for loading and unloading. 3000 on-site car parks further complement ease of access into the venue for your guests and visitors.

The Vbase technical team can help you to determine the best set up for your in house electrical requirements and wireless capabilities throughout the venue make communication access easy.

Match fit and ready to play
Behind the scenes there are six team changing rooms, four performers' dressing rooms, television production platforms and a dedicated fenced service area with space for outside broadcaster vans. A four sided LED graphics scoreboard is positioned above Centre Court.

Food and Beverage
Horncastle Arena offers award winning cuisine with stylish and attentive service. We can design a menu for your event and any specific delegate requirements using the finest local ingredients to create perfect flavours. Our food is complemented by a large selection of New Zealand and international wines.
