Whanganui War Memorial Centre

An architectural award winning building, the Whanganui War Memorial Centre is a stunning living memorial to the 375 service men and women who lost their lives during World War II. This premium venue houses 3 flexible spaces, and a large modern kitchen, making it suitable for hosting a range of events in style.

Main Hall
With over 1,000 square metres of space and 121 square metres of stage, the Main Hall offers an extremely versatile venue for award and graduation ceremonies, school balls, large seminars, exhibitions, gala dinners and performances. Featuring an expansive wooden spring floor, this space can accommodate up to 2,000 guests for a cocktail reception, or 700 banquet style.

Pioneer Room
The Pioneer Room is an awe-inspiring space with expansive windows overlooking Queen's Park. The room seats up to 120 in banquet and 200 theatre-style, or there is space for up to 300 for a cocktail reception.

Concert Chamber
The ideal space for orchestral concerts, key-note presentations, small conferences and meetings, this stylish Concert Chamber features fixed auditorium tiered seating for 366, and a stage of 41 square metres.

The Centre is within Whanganui’s attractive Queens Park (excellent for walks/lunches), adjacent to the Veteran Steps (leading down to the forecourt of the Memorial Centre), Whanganui Regional Museum, Sarjeant Gallery, Davis and Alexander Libraries.
