    Keen to help events make a comeback in our city this summer? Everything from live music events to triathlons? Do you love planning, coordination, and stakeholder engagement? We have a 15-month maternity cover opportunity to join our incredible Event Facilitation Team who exist to help make Tauranga better by assisting event organisers to bring their event to life and create more vibrancy in the city.

    Your role as an Event Facilitator will be to help event organisers with making their event happen on Councils public parks and reserves, ranging from live music events to marathons and triathlons.

    You'll help organisers work through their planning and regulatory obligations — things like traffic management plans, liquor licenses, waste plans, health and safety plans— and drive engagement with key city stakeholders to assist them with hosting safe and successful events for the city's residents and visitors to enjoy.

    This role includes:

    • Driving engagement with key city stakeholders
    • Identifying and assisting customers through their regulatory obligations
    • Working with some great event organisers as your customers

    In order to be successful, you will have:

    • An inherent desire to help others deliver their goals with the confidence to identify and communicate key areas of risk, problem solve, and work through solutions to achieve the best outcome.
    • A good working knowledge of the HSWA including risk management processes, and ideally other regulatory areas of events (such as food health, liquor licensing, traffic management, etc.).
    • Degree or diploma level qualification in event management or project management (or demonstrated equivalent industry experience)
    • Demonstrated experience in event planning or event delivery - specific knowledge with on-road events and traffic management plans would be highly advantageous.
    • Experience facilitating/chairing meetings.
    • Expert organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks and projects while continuing to forward think and plan ahead
    • Local government or similar organisational experience.
    • Stakeholder management skills with the ability to identify, plan for and manage effective engagement with key city stakeholders.
    • Strong administrative skills, proficient in relevant software applications e.g., Microsoft Office suite and information management systems. Experience with event booking software such as Ungerboeck would be an advantage.
    • The ability to communicate confidently and build positive working relationships with a wide range of groups/organisations
