Dear Member Venues and Associate members,  we understand that all of our venues and associates are facing an almost total loss of all events and the subsequent revenues from those events. For venues, some of you are wholly owned by local authorities, some partially funded and some completely independent. In whichever category you sit you we suggest that it is vital that you work out your current financial status and your ability to survive at least through to December, and the transmit that information to your funders or shareholders. We would advise going to the WINZ website and checking to see if the Government assistance is available for you and your staff, this covers all full time and part time staff, contractors etc and is also there to help with sick leave payments if required.  The payments do not require any paperwork to be submitted upfront to the system and it is very easy to navigate.

If you get the assistance from the government you then need to carry on with your usual roster, and with no events it’s a great time to get all of those jobs done that you never seem to have time for. It will give you a 12 week window to keep people employed.

EVANZ has been in contact with MBIE and you will have received their request for information from our GM. Be assured that we are advocating on behalf of the industry to Government wherever we can.

Again it is important that you check the Ministry of Health website for updates on maximum permitted attendance at events and protocols to ensure that tracking and tracing can take place if required. The Govenment also has a page with all of their latest information in one place

We are here to answer any questions that you have, please mail to GM gm@evanz.co.nz and we will attempt to get back to you as soon as we can. Our board members will all contribute as we are all in different types of venues and businesses.

It is very important that we share as much information as we can across the sector, and start thinking about how we are going to recover from this when the worst has passed and what challenges we will face in that recovery.
