    • Aldersgate Centre is an initiative of the Durham Street Methodist Church.  This exciting new centre is open to all and offers a place of refuge and support for those most at risk of being marginalised or left out.  Aldersgate is the home of the Durham Street Methodist Church and other community activities.  It can accommodate conferences and concerts for up to five hundred people and provides a base for others working locally and internationally for social justice, including the Christchurch Methodist Mission (Child and Family Services) and Christian World Service.

Since its official opening in February 2020 the Aldersgate Centre facilities have been well used being booked by a wide variety of organisations and groups.  It is now time to appoint a part-time manager to manage the venue and provide a contact point for external clients wanting to use the facilities.

This is a salaried position of $35,000 and for this we would anticipate 20 hours a week, on average.  It is a fixed term contract; initially for 12 months and the desired start date is early 2022.

The main duties of the Venue Manager are:

    • ·       Venue Bookings – central point of contact and co-ordinating and managing bookings for all spaces that are hired
    • ·       Venue Management – ensure that the required resources are available for bookings
    • ·       Develop ‘user manuals” on how the booking system works and key people to contact in emergencies and for repairs and maintenance
    • Person Specifications:

      Knowledge and Skills:

    • ·       Strong and astute interpersonal skills relevant to both internal and external relations and communications
    • ·       Excellent communicator
    • ·       Ability to balance innovative thinking with critical & objective analysis
    • ·       Customer/Client orientated
    • Experience

    • ·       At least 3 years’ experience in a facilities or event management role
    • ·       Experience in a role requiring good organisational skills
    • ·       Relevant qualification an advantage but not essential

For a full job description and more information about how to apply please contact:  Pauline McKay (Parish Steward) at venue.manager@aldersgate.org.nz
