The Trusts Arena (TTA) was opened in 2004 to provide founding partners and the wider Auckland community with a multi-purpose facility for the hosting of sporting, leisure, trade and cultural events.

TTA is owned and operated by Waitakere City Stadium Trust, a charitable trust. Over its 18-year history, TTA has grown in scope and currently is one of the most visited venues in Auckland, attracting more than half a million people each year.

The TTA Board is now seeking a new Chief Executive. She or he will lead and manage this multi-purpose facility through five direct reports, with accountability for leadership across strategic, people, stakeholder, financial and operational domains. The person appointed will leverage and grow the Arena’s strong reputation for hosting large events and providing community amenities and programmes.

The Arena’s next Chief Executive will be purpose driven and able to straddle the commercial and community sectors, to deliver social as well as commercial outcomes.

Superb ‘soft skills’ will be needed to work collegially with a range of stakeholders, including mana whenua, local and central government, partners from the commercial and not for profit sectors, along with community participants, including local clubs.

To be credible, you will offer general management experience, with a track record of leading sustainable organisational growth and change. While exposure to venue or sport and recreation management could add value, this is not a requirement. Ideally, your ‘offering’ will also include:

    • Leadership skills to support performance and teamwork between subject matter professionals from a variety of disciplines

    • Strong commercial acumen and financial management skills

    • Programme leadership exposure, across complex events or change initiatives

    • Ability to build rapport, influence and negotiate with decision makers

    • Exposure to social enterprise strategy and environmental management

    • A track record for driving innovation and ongoing improvement

    • The ability to work with a supportive and collegial board.
