The Venues and Events Services team manage some of Invercargill's most iconic venues including the Civic Theatre, the Scottish Hall and Rugby Park. The Civic Theatre complex provides a quality theatre and associated facilities for hire and is a popular venue for local and national organisations. The Scottish Hall provides a much loved venue for celebrations and community endeavour, and Rugby Park hosts all the action from provincial Rugby and beyond. With significant growth in the business and a redevelopment at Rugby Park there are plenty of exciting opportunities for an operations manager to shape the future of events in Invercargill.
We are looking for an Operations Manager to join our busy and passionate team on a permanent full-time basis to embed change from our transformation project whilst maintaining quality ‘day to day' service delivery.
Reporting to the Manager - Business Transition (Venues and Events), you will provide day to day management of the Venues and Event Services team ensuring change and business improvement plans are implemented and monitored. This will include ensuring the business meets performance targets and continues to adapt and meet the needs of customers, clients and patrons.
This role will lead the implementation of agreed business improvement initiatives ensuring business processes are well documented and the strategic direction and momentum maintained. This role will work collaboratively with staff to develop audiences and events that strengthen the business's response to changing markets and entertainment consumption behaviours.
To be successful in this position you will hold a tertiary qualification in Business, Venue or Event Management and a minimum of five years in a senior leadership position within a Venues and/or Events focused organisation. Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation, project management experience and leading, encouraging and managing staff is also essential
This position will deal with a variety of people including clients and other ICC team members, therefore your excellent communications skills will also be put to good use. You will be well organised and eager to learn new things. Most importantly you will love working as part of a tight knit team who work together to get the job done, and have a laugh while doing it!
