OPERATIONS MANAGER - ARENA & VENUES

About the Bruce Pulman Park Trust:
Bruce Pulman Park is a world-class Sports and Recreation Park in Papakura, South Auckland, with facilities geared toward community excellence at all levels. The Park is the home of state-of-the-art facilities, including a purpose-built gymnastics and trampoline facility, a multi-purpose indoor Arena, outdoor netball courts, sand-based and grass fields, cricket ovals, and a multi-use Teamsports building. In addition, Pulman Lodge offers upscale sports teams and group accommodation.
The Trust’s philosophy is that everyone in the community irrespective of age, gender, physical ability, or nationality can use the facilities and services provided for recreation, leisure, or sporting pursuits.
The Opportunity:
As the Operations Manager you will take ownership of events across the park, and be involved in the day-to-day planning, preparation, and operational delivery to drive exceptional customer service for all users across BPP facilities.
You will be responsible for managing a team, planning rosters, and overseeing reception located in the Arena, to ensure coverage across seven-day rosters, including day, evening, and weekend shifts. Events will vary from community activity to international sports tournaments to corporate functions.
The Operations Manager will support the Head of Operations in monitoring financial, risk management, health & safety, and compliance outcomes. You will be responsible for ensuring front and back of house areas across all facilities are presented in a high standard.
This role will have key internal relationships with both the sales and marketing and facilities divisions with four direct reports.
What you will bring
- Proven previous experience working in event operations
- Experience in team leadership skills, with the ability to manage and develop staff in an encouraging and consultative style
- Highly customer focused and able to identify and solve client challenges and needs
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Sound computer skills and technical savvy
- Knowledge of health & safety, risk and compliance
- A NZ Full Driver’s License required
