    He angitūtanga: The opportunity 

    The Manager, Event Planning Conventions & Expos is responsible for a specialised group of Event Planners to ensure the delivery of all events through the provision of effective and professional event management. This will include managing the team effectively in all areas of induction, guidance, mentoring and coaching, as well as identifying and deploying training and development needs to improve performance.

    Working under the Auckland Conventions brand, the Manager, Event Planning Conventions & Expos will work closely with the Manager, Event Planning Live Experiences, collaborating together to ensure consistent and agreed process across both teams. Project participation will include taking the lead on identified new business initiatives and providing high quality project management to ensure effective and efficient delivery of project objectives.

    The role will manage key client, supplier, and internal stakeholder relationships and oversee management of one-off and annual complex events to coach the team in planning of these events.  You will monitor event financials, audits and post analysis, track department spend and regularly review event planning and delivery processes, identifying and implementing opportunities for development. 

    He kōrero mōu: About you 
    We are looking for a people manager with strong team leadership experience, interpersonal and negotiation skills and the ability to develop and maintain networks and relationships. You will bring demonstrated experience in convention event planning, specifically in at least one of the following areas: Conferences, Expos, Exhibitions, Trade Shows, Private Events, Meetings or Incentives. 

    You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail. You will be solution focussed, able to keep a level head in stressful or high-pressure situations, have proven experience in conflict resolution and be able to prioritise and manage multiple events, projects and tasks autonomously.

    You will have knowledge of venue management best practices and procedures, understanding of all legislative requirements such as liquor licencing laws and food safety regulations, and the ability to interpret and enforce venue policies and procedures.
