As the largest facility of its kind in the country, Parakiore will offer world-class aquatic and indoor recreation, sport and leisure facilities for the people of Ōtautahi and attract visitors from across Australasia.
The opportunity for our sport and recreation community partners to book space for their activities and services is going to more than double! Nine more indoor sports courts, three of these can be transformed to a 2,500 seated show court, an Olympic sized lane pool and Dive Well with more than 1,000 spectator capacity, plus so much more!
We will also have heart-pounding hydroslides and dive boards, aquatic sensory experiences, an incredible water adventure playground and splash deck for our littlest visitors, a fully equipped gym and extensive group fitness classes, on-site physiotherapy and massage, cutting-edge high-performance sport, and circo arts, dance and cafes abuzz with social connection.
This amazing facility will open in 2025 and complement the Council network of facilities across Ōtautahi including the Recreation and Sport Centres: Graham Condon, Jellie Park, Matatiki, Pioneer, Taiora QEII, Te Pou Toetoe, and Cowles Stadium.

We are now looking for an experienced and dedicated Manager Activation and Events.
About the role - The Manager Activation and Events will do the following:

Maximise the participation in recreation and sport centres and stadia by working with community partners to support their use of these amazing facilities - schools, sports and recreation clubs, community groups, regional sports organisations, event organisers and owners and more

The Manager and their team, will allocate the amazing spaces, book the facilities, support the operations with event and activities crew, work alongside event owners to plan great event experiences - all happening in the spaces available at Parakiore and across Council's network of Recreation and Sport Centres in Ōtautahi

During the first twelve months of employment the role will also participate in the final activation and event planning in preparation for the opening of Parakiore

About you: To be successful in this role, you will have:

At least seven years' leadership experience in recreation, sports or events related industry

Strong mana whenua, partner and stakeholder management and relationship building skills

Project management experience coordinating several projects simultaneously

Be highly organised and collaborative in your thinking and skills
Your creativity and leadership will inspire our team to push boundaries, contribute to our operational values and service standard tikanga, delivering experiences that keep our partners coming back for more.

Hours: Permanent, full-time, 40 hours per week.

Salary: $101,882 - $113,202 per annum.
