    Te Pou Theatre is a kaupapa Māori Performing Arts venue for all, located at Corban Estate Arts Centre in West Auckland.  We produce theatre and capability programmes and run a venue, which we opened in March 2023.   Te Pou consists of a 250+ seat auditorium, and a rehearsal space which is used as a secondary small performance space from time to time (seating 80 people).   


    We’re looking for a skilled and innovative Poutoko Tinana o Muri | Senior Venue Technician to join our dynamic team.  As Senior Venue Technician for Te Pou Theatre you’ll take the lead role from pack-ins to pack-outs, ensuring that all events and productions have a smooth, seamless transition during their experience.  Reporting to the Poutoko Taha Tinana | Venue and Facilities manager, you’ll deal closely with clients, Te Pou Staff, contractors and artists making sure equipment, facilities and setups are of a high quality and standard, in alignment with our vision and values.  We welcome all enquiries and applicants, including those who want to explore job share situations.


    About the role

    Permanent, Full Time (FTE 40 hours) 


    The Mahi

    The role needs someone with at least 3 years experience as a Venue Tech and a desire to share skills with emerging technicians.  Kaupapa Māori approaches will be led and supported by Te Pou leaders.


    The mahi will include:

    • Management of the performance space.

    • Care and maintenance of all technical equipment.

    • Communication with venue users to establish technical needs for events.

    • Scheduling, engagement and management of any additional casual crew for Te Pou activities and VT cover.

    • Experience in technical roles within theatre, event venues, or production settings.

    • Proficiency in technical equipment, lighting, sound, rigging, staging, and video technology..

    • Effective communication and collaboration skills. Awareness of industry standards and Health & Safety regulations.

    • Flexibility to work outside regular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    • Ability to adapt and work independently or within a team.

    • Current EWP and First Aid certificates preferred; working at heights experience is desirable.

    • An understanding that te reo Māori and tikanga Māori is normalised in the workplace.
