We're hiring a dedicated Communications Officer to join our Tauranga City Council Venue & Events team in a newly formed role on a 12-month fixed term contract. Sitting in the Community Services group, the Venues & Events team are an exciting, dynamic team who support and deliver events across Tauranga Moana and manage the fantastic facilities of Baycourt Community & Arts Centre and The Historic Village.
We're looking for someone who can recognise a good story and loves to write. The Venue & Events Communications Officer will develop communication plans, write and disseminate publicity and operational materials and respond to inquiries from the public and media. They will raise awareness of venues and events in Tauranga through effective public relations efforts and the development of engaging content for media, social media, website, newsletters and communication collateral. The role will also involve the coordination of responses to media and social media enquiries, researching and developing a timely response.
What you will bring:
- A minimum of two years' experience in copywriting, journalism or communications,
- Superior written and grammatical skills,
- Ability to work collaboratively, meet tight deadlines and work with close attention to detail,
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a winning personality,
- Experience posting and managing social media platforms advantageous.
