About the Role - The purpose of the position is to ensure that the Council's community events programme is developed and maintained to ensure that the events run are well-managed, safe and enjoyable for the community.
Do you have what it takes? - This is a busy role which is responsible for managing Council's civic functions (eg Community Awards, Mayoral functions etc), co-ordinating three school holiday programmes per year and effectively running the activities included in each programme, ensure appropriate resourcing for events is carried out and that any volunteers are competent for the roles they are tasked to complete.
About You - You are a talented team player who has experience working in event management and who has a "can-do" attitude. You will have a detailed understanding of all aspects of event management from planning through to logistics and implementation to an excellent standard. You will have the ability to connect and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders, building new relationships and your communication skills will be of a high calibre enabling you to engage with a range of key audiences. You will be skilled in project management, enjoy taking on new challenges and have a good knowledge and understanding of health and safety legislation and practices.
Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, therefore must have NZ residency or hold a valid NZ work visa. In terms of residence class visa applications, priority will be given where the applicant is in New Zealand.

The salary range for this position is between $65,160pa and $72,400pa and the appointed starting level will be dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed during interviews with shortlisted candidates.
